The form vos is commonly used in Latin America

In podcast number 34 of Spanish 360 with Fabiana, we review the use of the word vos in Spanish and its associated verb forms. In Spanish the word vos is used extensively as the primary form of the second person singular in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.  In Nicaragua, the pronoun vos is  also extensively used. A similar but less extensive use of the pronoun occurs in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Bolivia and Costa Rica.

The voseo is the use of vos as the second person singular pronoun instead of tú or alongside it. In podcast number 19 in Spanish 360 with Fabiana , Chris tells us about a movie which he had seen, The Secret in Their Eyes ( El secreto de sus ojos), an Argentine crime thriller film, directed by Juan José Campanella, based on Eduardo Sacheri’s novel La Pregunta de Sus Ojos (The Question in Their Eyes). The film stars Ricardo Darín and Soledad Villamil . This film won the 2010 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. As you will discover when you see this film, the word vos is frequently used throughout the film.
